-Inspired by the Slithersucker from The Future Is Wild [link] This is a slime mold that has evolved a hunting method like the Slithersucker. However, said method differs from that of the Slithersucker. It disperses the overall colony of cells over a wide area in a net-like pattern. Like the Slithersucker, each cell secretes a sticky mucus that accumulates and traps unsuspecting prey. Once the victim is caught, the immediately surrounding cells send chemical signals that diffuse throughout all the other cells, signaling them to congregate to the site and engulf the victim, making escape even less possible. While engulfing the victim, the slime mold secretes weak digestive enzymes and absorbs nutrients from the digested material. Once the entire victim is completely digested, all the cells congregate into a great mass, then trigger an explosive chemical reaction that redisperses the individual cells.
